Drive It Day – Cromford Mills

26th April

“Arrive at eleven thirty”, requested Phil Royle, so, we turn up about eleven fifteen to be greeted by about twenty plus (see what I did there?) Morgan’s from DonMog, FoxMog, LinMog, Sherwood, High Peak ‘n Staffs already parked up and a lovely sight it was too.

Coffee etc purchased and an enjoyable chat with people we’d not seen for a while albeit none of them will admit it, plus new folks willing to natter, (obviously no one had warned them), followed by a wander around the mills, which proved interesting with a varied assortment of shops from bric-a-brac to cheese.

We didn’t do the factory tour, however, it couldn’t have been fun working there with all the noisy machinery running, fingers missing ‘n deaf by the age of fifteen.
Lunch time, we thought the café was reasonably priced and enjoyed ours, which was very tasty, sat in the sunshine followed by another look around, including the various Morgans on show, which caused quite a stir with the general public.

After a mortgage spent in the cheese shop, it was time to take our leave ‘cos we had an urgent delivery of a Scalextric to the grandkids in Duffield on our way home. However, on leaving we did have a drive through the motorcycle showroom otherwise known as Matlock Bath which was quite busy.

All in all a fabulous day out ‘n a big thanks to Phil for organising it. Ps, the cheese was nice too.
