Wednesday 22nd October
32 of us gathered at Ramsdale Golf Centre, Calverton for this much anticipated competition. After a reviving coffee, we assembled at the Crazy Golf course.

Our organiser, Andrew Dodd, had gone to great trouble to ensure that our teams were pre selected and planned. Keith Steadman (for Sherwood) and myself (for DonMog) were the nominated team captains and were asked to lead off and to collate the scores at the end of the morning.
Play started and there were soon an enthusiastic bunch of Morganeers spread throughout the course. Plenty of laughter and quite a lot of sharp inhalation seemed to be the order of the day – together with a few ecstatic whoops as a few people managed a hole in one (two in one instance!).

After 18 closely fought holes, we were first back at the “club house” and started to collate the scores. Andrew had devised a scoring system which ensured that a running score was kept as each group of four returned. After two teams had handed in their scores, all was equal with three points to each centre. Two more teams returned to level the scores once more at six all. By the time the sixth team had returned, we were level again at nine points all. The seventh group of four were not included in the inter centre competition as all four were from Sherwood – insufficient DonMog members having signed up.

The eighth team to return would be the tie breaker. DonMog were represented here by Andrew and Liane. Sadly for DonMog, their Sherwood team mates beat them by ten strokes handing the overall win to Sherwood Centre at ten points to eleven (lowest score being the winners).
We adjourned to the restaurant for lunch and the prize giving. No expense had been spared on the trophies.

The awards were:
Best lady – Jane Pluta (Sherwood)
Best gentleman – Chris Lewis (DonMog)
Overall winners – Sherwood

With grateful thanks to Andrew Dodd for a brilliantly organised day out.
